About

Kate Kimelman, Founder and Editor

I started Editorial Services 30 years ago to assist educational institutions, publishers, and corporations with their marketing and sales communications publications, including books, magazines, web pages, newsletters, educational materials, conference materials, reports, and more.

My current and previous clients include Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Undergraduate Education, Law School, and Stanford Press; Sunset Magazine and Books; SRI Consulting; Santa Clara University Marketing and Communications; the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI); Staffing Industry Analysts; and Addison-Wesley Publishing Co.

I have an MA in Fine Arts from the University of Utah, a BA in Art History from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and am certified as a technical writer. Through the study of art history I learned how to look: to see details as well as the work as a whole. This has been my approach to editing and proofreading — suggesting edits in the text as well as in the layout.

Outside of Editorial Services, I enjoy reading, hiking, yoga, dance, and tennis. I have been a USTA team captain in Northern California tennis over the past 25 years. Tennis has also assisted me in my approach to editing as it involves focus, economy of movement, effective communication and leadership, teamwork, and constant rethinking and editing of my ideas and strategies.
